April 11th Newsletter

AIMS is over! I think that the kids are happy. It was a lot of time sitting in their seats that they are not used to. In spite of all the time we spent on AIMS, we were able to fit in a few other things!

We finished up our maps and globes unit today. The kids completed their centers on the globe, the continents, coordinantes, map key, landforms, water ways and the compass. Today they worked on creating their own map of a make-believe island. They did an incredible job on these projects!

This week we also began to work on our end of the year class play. I think everyone is really excited. The play performance will be on May 7th, Wednesday. There is a Sidewinders baseball game that night that I will be buying group tickets to. I will send a paper note home about this next week, but keep this date open... it will be a fun night.

Last week's poll was, "What was your favorite Social Studies Unit?" Only six people voted and there was a tie between Civil War and Government, each had 3 votes. Hopefully more kids will vote this week! If you voted for Civil War or Greece and Rome, you can earn 10 extra credit points in social studies by commenting and telling me WHY it was your favorite.

Don't forget to vote on this week's poll. I will give extra credit for everyone who posts a comment on this blog. Here are the requirements: post a comment, answer a question from the "Questions from the Week" section, vote on the poll and tell me what you voted on. That is all you have to do and you get a FREE 10 points in Science!

I will respond to each post that is made this week!

I am so glad that AIMS testing is over. I voted on rocks and minerals because we got to go to the gem show. I am sad that we have homework again and so is my mom. I had a river and a peninsula on my map.
