Hey everyone! It is almost AIMS. As you know we are testing on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Make sure to get lots of rest and eat a good breakfast next week. If you have any questions or concerns about the test please drop me an email or blog comment. Thank you for all the snacks. If you still want to send in snack please do on Monday. The kids will appreciate it.
The last 2 weeks we have been learning about maps and globes. Students made a compass, learned the continents and oceans, read coordinates and used a map scale. They used an Arizona map to find coordinates and distances. The last few days of this week the students practiced their learning in small group centers. Next week students are going to be finishing up their centers and making an island map on their own.
In reading and writing, students have been working on a demonstration lesson. Students have been looking at various recipes and seeing what makes a good recipe. Friday, students will be presenting their lessons to the class.
In math we have been doing lots of practice for the AIMS. This week we finished Chapter 8 on Fractions. The students took their test on Thursday. We will start Chapter 9 on multiplication after the AIMS test is over.
Here are some questions to ask your kids about what we learning this week.
What is the equator?
What is a hemisphere?
What are transition words?
How did your presentation go on Friday?
If you and your child post to this blog I will give your child 5 pts extra credit in writing! :) Just click on the comments below.
