It was another fun filled week in room 16!
Morning Quick Read and Write: This week's quick read focused on finding information in a newspaper article. The quick write focused on contractions, plural nouns, using the correct adjective in a sentence, and finding capitalization errors in writing.
Reading: We began the week with an interesting reading lesson in which we each wrote down the name of the person we would vote for for President if we could. Then we learned about some of the decisions that our nations's president must face and make decisions on. After that we sorted issues that both candidates had ideas about how they should be solved into two columns (I agree with this or I do not agree with this). Finally, we looked at which candidate we most agreed with! Some of us were surprised!!!
National Monuments was our focus for the end of this week. We are in the process of learning about the national monuments by making a cool travel brochure with the information we are collecting.
Friday we had extra computer time to do an Ellis Island Simulation. I have already heard from many parents about how cool the kids thought it was. We learned first hand, what it felt like to be an immigrant coming to the United States! Students, if you have not shared this with your parents, please do.
Math: We have continued to work our way through chapter four which focuses on multiplication and division. We will be taking the chapter 4 assessment later this week.
Spelling: We will have our weekly spelling test on Wednesday!
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! See you tomorrow!
